Show Ogden Digging From Under Deepest Snow Tribune Leased Wire OGDEN, Jan. 24 Residents of the Junction city Monday were busy digging out of the worst snowstorm in the history of Weber county. A total of 15 inches of new snow fell during the week end, clogging city streets where all available trucks and graders were pressed into service to keep traffic moving. Housetops groaned under tons of snow and cars crept about the city with white tops as deep as two mattresses. North Ogden and Uintah schools were closed after 60 mph gales funneled out of Ogden and Weber canyons early Monday to lash snow into mountainous drifts. More than 50 persons were stranded at the Greyhound bus depot when bus schedules through Weber canyon on U. S. highway 30 to Evanston, Wyo., were canceled, due to deep drifts. Trains, although running, were reported several hours late. A number of weekday church services scheduled for Monday night also were canceled because of the snow. Ogden municipal airport, closed during the week end, was digging out Monday and officials expected to have runways cleared of snow for normal traffic Tuesday. At Hill air force base, gales reaching 60 miles an hour piled drifts across the field, but did no damage to military installations, according to the public information office. Runways at the field were kept open by snow crews working around the clock. The community of Tremonton Monday was reported completely snowbound, as were residents of Bothwell, a small town west of Tremonton, according to reports reaching Weber county sheriffs office. Tuesday, January 25 I go down town and got chains on car Truck backs into car and mashes right fender on my car. About noon on way home Attend sanity hearing at Judge Cawleys court Read and write some Wednesday, January 26 Snowed somebad cold day. Cattle & Sheep men in bad condition. Many livestock dying.
