July Festivities Fun for All. The annual golf tournament at Mulligans drew in attendance around 85 golfers from the community. Prizes and sunburns were enjoyed by all. Thanks to Danny Brown for all his hard work in making this event a success. The 2nd Annual Chess & Checker Tournament was exciting and fun for all 22 enthusiastic participants. There were 4 age groups of checker players and one group of Chess players. Winners by age group are as follows: Eleven and under: Dennis Mecham 12-14: Mike Halausy 15-18: Chace Holley 26 and over: Girma Hunde Chess: Travis Williams Everyone who participated received a prize. Thanks to Gerald Taylor for organizing this event and for the fun games. The July 3rd and July 4th activities hosted a pleasant dinner, great parade, frolic and sports for the community. Thanks to Shauna Meyerhoffer, Darren DeVries, Pam Slater, Will Holley and everyone else who participated in the activities. ? 2001 Municipal Elections. Filing is open for 2001 municipal elections for the office of Mayor and for two (2) City Council offices, one (1) for each district. Anyone interested in filing must complete a Declaration of Candidacy before 5:00 p.m. on August 15, 2001. Contact the City Recorder at the office for more information. Filing fee is $5. ? Cow Milking. Dennis Ilium and his team cohorts took 3rd place in the Wild Cow Milking Contest at the Ogden Pioneer Days Rodeo. ? 2800 West Road Replaced. We appreciate the patience of those living on 2800 West. The city required the sewer district and the contractor to wait until proper road mix was available to effectively replace the road to help avoid long term-term replacement problems. New Business. Rent-2-Own was approved for a business license at 12th and 12th. We wish them success. ? Notice of Agriculture Protection Areas. Notice is given pursuant to UCA 17-41-302 that three (3) proposals for the creation of an agriculture protection area have been filed with the City Council. The proposals were filed by Dennis Ilium for Parcels #150320035 and 150320034, Melvin Meyerhoffer for Parcels #150330019 and 150330018, and Grant Butler for Parcels #150290039, 15002900056 and 1502900057. Each proposal is open for public inspection at the city office, 1195 W 400 N, 627-1919. The proposals will be before the Planning Commission on August 8, 2001. The Planning Commission shall make a written report to the City Council within 45 days. Then the City Council shall hold a public hearing and discuss any report from the advisory committee and planning commission. Notice was published in the newspaper, and was posted on July 20, 2001, in seven (7) places in the city. ? Notice of Public Hearing. Notice is given that the City Council at it next regular scheduled meeting at City Hall on August 8, 2001, at 6:30 p.m. will hold a public hearing to take public comments and hear the recommendation from the Planning Commission on Ordinance 2001-11 to allow wireless communication towers on utility poles in the public right-of-way. ?
