Show The Pioneer Post Volume IX Issue 10 Marriott-Slaterville City Newsletter October 2007 Election UPDATE AND MEET THE CANDIDATES The 2007 Election is coming soon. This election will be administered by the state rather than the city because of the state-wide referendum regarding school vouchers. Early voting is on the following dates: October 23 to October 26, and again from October 30 to November 2. You can participate in early voting at any of the four (4) locations in Weber County as follows:_ Location Address Phone WC Library - Huntsville 131 S 7400 E 745-2220 North Ogden City Hall 505 E 2600 N 782-7211 WC Library - Roy 1950 W 4800 S 773-2556 Weber County Center 2380 Washington 399-8034 Early voting will run from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the dates indicated above. Call the Weber County Clerk at 399-8400 for more information. The general election day is November 6. Polls will open at the Marriott-Slaterville City Building (1570 W 400 N) at 7 a.m. and remain open until 8 p.m. that day. In addition to our local candidates, there are other ballot measures including the school voucher referendum and the proposed transportation tax. You are encouraged to become educated on the issues and vote either in support or in opposition to these ballot measures. Three (3) city council seats are also on the ballot. The names of the candidates, in alphabetical order by seat and name, as they will appear on the ballot as follows: At-large Council: Gerald Bischoff and Scott VanLeeuwen; Council East District: Dennis Illum and andy Phipps; Council West District: Rob Smout. The candidates have scheduled a Meet the Candidates Night on Wednesday, October 10, 2007 at 7 p.m. at City Hall (1570 W 400 N). This is a good opportunity to visit with the candidates. This evening is arranged by the candidates will be informal._ Local Updates Flu Shots. Applegate Home Care is planning to give Flu Shots to anyone interested on Tuesday, October 23, 2007, from Noon-2:00 p.m. at City Hall. All seniors with Medicare B will need to bring their Medicare card as well as photo identification. With this card and identification, the shot is free. The cost without Medicare is yet to be determined, however, the cost last year was $25. We will need a count for the serum, so please sign-up or call Becky at 627-1919 ext. 202 before October 16. For those also wanting to attend the senior lunch that day, please sign-up in advance so enough lunches can be ordered. UDOT 12th Street Reconstruction. UDOT will be reconstructing 12th Street from I-15 to Harrison Boulevard, possibly as soon as 2008. This project is includes reconstruction of the street, storm drainage, curb, gutter, and sidewalks.
