Wellman Physical Education It is recommended that a student pursuing a major in physical education complete Physiology 1, la, Bacteriology 1, la, Psychology 1, Home Economics 6, Physics 10, Physical Education 9 or 19, Health Education 5; and three quarter hours of physical education including Physical Education 1 or 11, 6 or 16, 21, 22, 23; also Recreation 2, 8 and 26. A survey course designed to acquaint the student with the field of recreation. Two quarter hours. Autumn. Swenson 2. Recreational Leadership. A course designed to give the principles, methods, and materials necessary for leadership in recreational activities. Two quarter hours. Spring. Swenson 5. Games and Sports. A course designed to give the methods of conducting games, and provide a background of a wide variety of games. Two quarter hours. Winter. Staff 8. Game Officiating. A course in officiating all types of athletic contests. Practice is provided in the intramural program. Two quarter hours. Autumn. Wellman 11. Hunting. A couse dealing with game laws, types of game, specific techniques of hunting for game found in Utah, and the care and use of guns. Field trips are required. Two quarter hours. Autumn. Staff 12. Fishing. A course dealing with the habits of the various types of fish, making and securing proper tackle, and methods of casting. Field trips are required. Two quarter hours. Spring. Swenson 26. Social Dancing. A theory course designed to give the underlying principles of social dancing, with the purpose of assisting future teachers and directors of ballroom dancing.
