Show THE FANTASTICS A rare blending of Weber State drama students and the community resulted in the production of the Fantastics. Opening its first season, The New Alhambra hosted "America's favorite musical." The Fantastics, as was suggested by its subtitle, was a "parable of love," which suggested that we "try to remember when love was an ember about to billow." It was based on the idea that as do the seasons change so do people. Taking the lead roles were Kevin Wheelwright and Mary Jane Hoffman. Other Weber State students included Larry West, Ray Myers, and Larry Fulton. Larry Fulton also directed the show. FLIBBERTYGIBBIT A show for children of all ages, Flibbertygibbit, came to the Weber State Theatre stage March 23 through April 3. Flibbertygibbit, played by J. D. Stokes, is a wonderful magical boy whose only believer is 10-year-old Lisa played by Annette Steele. Other cast members were: Nels Carlson, Adam; Michelle Gates, Lisa (understudy); Deberra Slagowski, Peg; Sherrie Slagowski, Kate; Annette Steele, Lisa; John E. Whiting, Javin; Lynda Brown, Bess; Gloria Jensen, Nanny; J. D. Stokes, Flibbertygibbit; Wesley Wright, composer; Teddy Johnson, Assistant director; and Leslie Haws, Assistant director. Original music written especially for this production by Wesley Wright and the direction of T. Leonard Rowley helped to make this a thoroughly charming production. |
