Show WILDCATS RETAIN BSC TITLE As it has come to be expected of W.S.C. Basketball teams, the cagers put forth their maximum effort, both in spirit (Right Center) and on the court (Top Right) to produce a 21-6 overall (12-2 BSC) season. With the combined efforts of seasoned veterans (Left Center) and superlative sophomores (Bottom Left) the Cats made it look almost easy. In Weber's first appearance in the Cable Car Classic early in the season, the Cats brought home Second Place, losing to the U of California 65-75 in the finals. Later we went one better by taking the coveted First Place Trophy from host team Evansville in the Evansville Classic. A PERFECT HOME COURT SEASON The Cat backers were treated to a special acquisition as the Weber quintet didn't lose a single of its twelve home games, including an exciting exhibition game against the Athletes in Action. There were some great individual efforts on the home court with Jon Knoble attempting a steal from a Fresno Stater (Bottom Right). Bill Orr going in for a difficult lay-up against Montana (Below), and Herm Pluim giving it the old undefendable hook shot (Bottom Left), also against Montana. Coach Phil Johnson (Right) was named Coach of the Year for the third straight year in the conference. During these three years Coach Johnson has accumulated a fantastic 39-5 BSC mark. Senior Willie Sojourner (35) and Junior Bob Davis (25) were named to the all-conference first team. |
