Show CARDINAL KEY In May, 1970, national delegates and officers presented a national charter to Weber State College's chapter of Cardinal Key which then changed to Cardinal Key National Honor Sorority of Weber State. Our chapter is the only one in Utah and is sister club to Blue Key National Honor Fraternity. Cardinal Key is an organization for women of at least junior status in American colleges and universities who are leaders in the college and community and who are deemed potential leaders in the future. The purpose of Cardinal Key are to recognize achievement in scholarship and extra-curricular activities; to advance patriotism and service. Some of the service projects that Cardinal Key did this year were: mums for Homecoming; spirit buttons; Bucks for Books; the Bunny Hop (Easter Seal Drive); and a campaign for students to get out and vote for school positions. BLUE KEY The 1970-71 school year saw Weber State's oldest nationally affiliated fraternity attaining new heights of contemporary relevance. Under the leadership of President Al Belt the Weber State Chapter of Blue Key National Honor Fraternity blasted graffetti from the walls of Ogden Canyon in an attempt to emphasize care of the environment. Other Blue Key projects for the year included sponsoring the "Bucks for Books" drive which raised over $1,000 to be used for the purchase of library books, and the annual publication of the official student directory. Membership is limited to 25 upperclassmen who not only maintain a GPA above the all-men's average, but who have also demonstrated outstanding leadership abilities with a desire to serve others. |
