Show First and second places were taken by Education and Otyokwa with totals of 150 and 130, respectively. The members on the former team were Helen Donaldson, Iota Langford, Zona Jenson, and Iona Langford. These girls took first, second, third, and fifth places, respectively, in individual points. Helen Harlin of the Business Department placed fourth. It was this meet that brought out what be- came the nucleus of Weber's swimming team. VOLLEY BALL The tournament was not preceded by any preliminary training either in rules or in execution. The teams did well, however, and the tourney advanced with success. Of the six teams entered, five were defeated within the week. Iota Tau Kappa took first place in the final game against La Dianaeda. PING-PONG The ping-pong tournament was held during the late weeks of March. This contest was preceded by weeks of training. Several teams were entered and four rounds were played before the winners were determined. La Dianaeda, sponsoring a team comprised of Shir- lie Wangsgard, Lynn Harwood, and Beth Ritchie, was victorious in the final set, played against Education. In the spring quarter, basketball, archery, tennis, golf, badminton, and baseball were featured and were characterized by the interest of the previous quarter. The larger number of women enrolled in spring quarter gym classes indicated the girls' eagerness to enter competition. Because this book went to press before the winners of these contests could be determined and announced, it was necessary to publish pictures that are merely representative of these events. |
