Show 32 WEBER COLLEGE - OGDEN, UTAH WEBER COLLEGE - OGDEN, UTAH 33 application for admission to Weber College. The students of this division are not preparing for higher degrees. They pursue a terminal course and at the completion of this work receive a Certificate of Completion in the field wherein their specific requirements have been met. These requirements may not satisfy the entrance requirements of the higher institutions of the state. In order to be admitted to Weber College in any of the above classifications, a student must be of good moral character. A student who has been dropped from any high school or college on account of poor scholarship, or unsatisfactory conduct, or who is on probation at another institution may not register at Weber College without first appealing to the Scholarship and Attendance Committee for entrance. This committee will be guided by the recommendation of the institution from which such a student transfers. Numbering of Courses Courses numbered from 1 to 50 allow college credit. Courses numbered 50 and above allow terminal credit. Terminal courses are offered for junior college credit only and are accepted by Weber College toward graduation of the terminal student. These courses may not be accepted at full value by the higher institutions of learning. Classification of Students A student with less than forty-five quarter hours' credit at the beginning of the school year or a student who is registered in any regular course in the first year of the Terminal Division will be classified as a Freshman. A student with more than forty-five quarter hours' credit or a student who has completed a regular freshman course in the Terminal Division will be classified as a Sophomore. A student who is carrying less than ten quarter hours of work will be classified as a Special student. Pre-Registration During each quarter there is a period of pre-registration for the following quarter. Pre-registration is a conference method inaugurated to avoid the problems attendant upon mass registration, and to insure opportunity for giving individual attention to the program of each student. For the year 1938-1939, pre-registration dates will be as follows: Autumn quarter September 6 September 13 Winter quarter November 15 December 2 Spring quarter February 13 March 3 All students are expected to complete their registration, including payment of required fees, before the final registration day of each quarter. Stu dents failing to do this will be charged a late registration fee. Classes are reserved only for students whose fees are paid. Normal Registration: Fifteen quarter hours, exclusive of Physical Education is the normal registration for any one quarter. A student intending to transfer to an institution of higher learning at the completion of his course in Weber College should consult the catalogue of such institution in order to acquaint himself with the requirements of the school to which he plans to transfer. Grades and Grade Points The grading system consists of four passing grades, A, B, C, D; failure, E; incomplete, I; withdrawn, W. Exceptional accomplishment is denoted by the grade of A; superior, B; average, C; and inferior, D. When a student is dropped from a class because of inferior work or excessive absences, a final mark of E is recorded. Grade points or honor points are assigned as follows: Each hour of A grade counts three points; B grade, two points; C grade, one point; D grade, no point; and E grade, minus one point. The total of honor points thus obtained is divided by the total hours registered. A ratio of 2.50 represents high honors. A student must make a ratio of at least 1.0 for graduation. Fees The annual fees are $76.00 distributed by quarters as follows: Autumn Winter Spring Resident Registration $10.00 Tuition 17.00 $17.00 $17.00 Student Activity 4.50 4.50 3.00 Class fee 50 Health Service 1.00 Lyceum 50 .50 .50 $33.50 $22.00 $20.50 Students who are not legal residents of Utah are assessed an annual non-resident registration fee of $45.00. Students entering the winter or spring quarters pay the registration, health service and class fees, in addition to those listed for the quarter. The health service fee is paid by all regular students, first and second year, and in addition by the special students taking Physical Education classes. The lyceum fee is paid by all students, including special students and auditors. It is anticipated that fees will be paid by final registration day of each quarter.
