The Dean of Women is concerned especially with the orientation of new students to college life and work, her purpose being to help them to discover and develop their potentialities in order that they may get the most out of their college experience. She has under her super vision the houses and dormitories in which women room and board. Health Service The Health Program provides an educational and advisory service to every student. The Health Service is designed as an educational and advisory service, its benefits extending to every student enrolled in Weber College. Its specific functions are: (1) to give a complete medical examination to every student upon his initial entrance at Weber College; (2) to notify parents and students regarding results of the examination, and to recommend corrective work; (3) to re-examine, at reasonable intervals, students with physical defects; (4) to supply a nursing service that consists of consultation and advice but no treatment; and (5) to initiate protective measures against the spread of disease. Summer Session The Summer Session serves the need of Terminal Students who are seeking positions in the business world, by providing opportunity for continuous training in shorthand, typewriting, secretarial technique, and other business subjects. Beginning June, 1939, the Department of Business was organized on a strictly Business College basis, whereby a student may register and receive training at any time throughout the year. Intensive training may qualify students for position in a short period of time. The Central Building was purchased June 30, 1939, from the Ogden City Board of Education through the generosity of Governor Henry H. Blood and the encouragement of the Utah State Board of Education, at the solicitation of citizens of Ogden City. |
