Show 32 WEBER COLLEGE - OGDEN, UTAH course and at the completion of this work receive a Certificate of Completion in the field wherein their specific requirements have been met. These requirements may not satisfy the entrance requirements of the higher institutions of the state. In order to be admitted to Weber College in any of the above classifications, a student must be of good moral character. A student who has been dropped from any high school or college on account of poor scholarship, or unsatisfactory conduct, or who is on probation at another institution may not register at Weber College without first appealing to the Scholarship and Attendance Committee for entrance. This committtee will be guided by the recommendation of the institution from which such a student transfers. Numbering of Courses Courses numbered from 1 to 50 allow college credit. Courses numbered 50 and above allow terminal credit. Terminal courses are offered for junior college credit only and are accepted by Weber College toward graduation of the terminal student. These courses may not be accepted at full value by the higher institutions of learning. Classification of Students A student with less than forty-five quarter hours' credit at the beginning of the school year or a student who is registered in any regular course in the first year of the Terminal Division is classified as a Fresh man. A student with more than forty-five quarter hours' credit or a student who has completed a regular freshman course in the Terminal Division is classified as a Sophomore. A student who is carrying less than ten quarter hours of work is classified as a Special Student. Pre-Registration During each quarter there is a period of pre-registration for the following quarter. Pre-registration is a conference method inaugurated to avoid the problems attendant upon mass registration, and to insure opportunity for giving individual attention to the program of each student. For the year 1939-1940, pre-registration dates are as follows: Autumn quarter September 11 September 21 Winter quarter November 20 December 15 Spring quarter February 19 March 14 All students are expected to complete their registration, including payment of required fees, before the final registration day of each quarter. Normal Registration: Fifteen quarter hours, exclusive of Physical Education, is the normal registration for any one quarter. WEBER COLLEGE - OGDEN, UTAH 33 A student intending to transfer to an institution of higher learning at the completion of his course in Weber College should consult the catalogue of such institution in order to acquaint himself with the requirements of the school to which he plans to transfer. Grades and Grade Points The grading system consists of four passing grades: A, B, C, D; failure: E; incomplete: I; withdrawn: W. Exceptional accomplishment is denoted by the grade of A; superior, B; average, C; and inferior, D. When a student is dropped from a class because of inferior work or excessive absences, a final mark of E is recorded. Grade points or honor points are assigned as follows: Each hour of A grade counts three points; B grade, two points; C grade, one point; D grade, no point; and E grade, minus one point. The total of honor points thus obtained is divided by the total hours registered. A ratio of 2.50 represents high honors. A student must make a ratio of at least 1.0 for graduation. Students who are not legal residents of Utah are required to pay an annual non-resident registration fee of $45.00 in lieu of the resident registration fee of $10.00. Payment of the lyceum fee will entitle the student to membership in the combined Ogden Community - Weber College Greater Concert Series for the year 1939-1940. Registration is not complete until the student has paid the fees for the quarter or made satisfactory arrangements with the Treasurer. The late registration fee will be assessed students who fail to complete their registration by Monday of the second week. The charge is 50c for Tuesday, $1.00 for Wednesday and the remainder of the second week, and $1.50 after the second week. |
