It covers the fundamental principles of debit and credit in books of original entry, posting to final records, and the preparation of financial statements. Four hours terminal credit. A course covering the study of the economic background of modern business, wealth, and how it is produced, making an income and sharing in wealth, personal progress through money management, insurance, money and banking, and consumer education in buying. It also includes problems in connection with the organization and operation of a business, interpretation of statistics in fore casting business conditions, and study of business cycles. A course in which the student is first oriented in the field of nursing. She studies the basic factors in the care of patients, including physical, emotional, and social factors. Simpler nursing procedures are demonstrated and the student begins to acquire her nursing skill by practicing under supervision, first in the classroom, and later when she is sufficiently skillful, in the wards. A history of medicine, with an introduction to diseases, preparing the nurse for future study in medical nursing. One quarter hour. Winter. Seidner 67. Expert Typewriting. A continuation of Business 66. Designed to attain speed at 80 words a minute, upon completion of the course. Two quarter hours. Autumn, Winter, Spring. Staff 67a. Laboratory Assignment for Business 67. Budget V: A course consisting of the following: interviewing callers, general discussion of filing, and abstracting. One quarter hour. Autumn, Winter, Spring. Staff 68. Expert Typewriting. A course designed to attain speed at 90 words a minute, upon completion of the course. Three quarter hours. Autumn, Winter, Spring. Staff 76. Integrated Office Practice. A course devoted to the purpose of giving each student an opportunity to integrate and coordinate all in formation and skills learned in other related subjects and to apply knowledge gained to actual problems that arise in conducting a business. A student may assume control of a business and operate it as if it were his own, having the privilege of rotating from one position to another. The course trains the students to fill such positions as, managers, secretaries, filing clerks, bookkeepers, accountants, typists, and business ma chine operators. Students successfully completing this course are recommended for placement in the most desirable business positions. Open only to advanced students, or with approval of instructor. A course designed to prepare the future secretary to operate efficiently the various machines and appliances found in business offices. Thorough and detailed training is given in the use and operation of: dictaphone, mimeo graph, mimeoscope, multigraph, multigraph-duplicator, and numbering, stapling, and booking machines, paper trimmer and cutter. Two quarter hours. Autumn, Winter, Spring. Staff 82. Secretarial Science Laboratory. A finishing course planned to provide actual experience under practical business conditions. This course includes taking personal dictation from various individuals, transcribing notes from dictaphone records, and all forms of duplicating (mimeograph, multigraph, carbons, etc.). A student should successfully complete this course before he is recommended for the higher positions in Secretarial Science. Prerequisite: Business 55, 55a, 65, 65a, 81, and Business 17. Two quarter hours. Autumn, Winter, Spring. Staff 84. Calculators. A course devoted to training in the operation of Marchant, Monroe, and Burrough Calculators. Instruction computations, such as division, multiplication, addition and subtraction, percentages, discounts, decimal equivalents, and so forth. Two quarter hours. Autumn, Winter, Spring. Markham 85. Posting Machines. A course devoted to instruction and practice in the operation of Burrough, Remington, and other posting machines. Bookkeeping procedure in banks and commercial offices is stressed.
