Winter. Jimmerson 61. Chemistry Applied to Nursing. A course in elementary chemistry emphasizing the application of chemistry to nursing. Two lectures and one laboratory period. Three quarter hours. Autumn. Jimmerson 71. Social Adjustments: Ethics. A course taking up ethical problems that confront the nurse during her preliminary period of orientation in the hospital. It deals with the matters of dress, etiquette, and conduct in general, as well as professional ethics. Two quarter hours. Autumn. 72. Social Adjustment: History. An outline of nursing history beginning with the earliest conceptions of nursing, and tracing its development through the various epochs of history. The course is studied parallel with events in the general world. Two quarter hours. Winter. Miller 64. Diet in Disease. A course dealing with a review of classified hospital diets and their application to different ages; a discussion of diets in various diseases; methods of feeding, and planning diets for patients; calculating diets in special quantities of protein, fats, and carbohydrates. Principles underlying the diet therapy, together with review of diseases are given by a physician. Application of diet therapy are given by a dietitian. Shop Practice. Shop work consisting of sheet metal duct work and other units, such as, cooling coils, evaporative condensors, shell and tube heat exchangers, expansion valves, controls, pumps, motors, blowers, fabrication and erection problems. Students do actual work in the shop on all types of refrigeration and air conditioning equipment. Practices followed in the shop resemble those followed in industry. A course covering the technical phases of shop practice and fundamental information necessary to do the practical work. Five hours terminal credit each quarter. Autumn, Winter, Spring. McPheeters Trade Related. A course including the necessary related information needed by an apprentice in becoming a first class workman. The work includes trade codes, trade mathematics, labor problems, employer-employee relationship, sheet metal drafting and other trade information. Five hours terminal credit each quarter. Jeppsen The work in Auto Body is designed to provide adequate training and experience in auto body work in all the different phases, including paint work. Shop Practice.
