Show are available: 11) a 19-meal per week planthree meals per day, Monday through Friday, and two meals per day, Saturday and Sunday, (2) a 14-meal per week planany 14 meals during the week. (3) A 10-meal per week planany 10 meals during the week. Other facilities in each building include living, laundry, recreation, study, TV, and music rooms and floor lounges. A Universal Gym and wrestling mats, a dark room, and a steam room are provided in Promontory Tower and are available to both men and women residents. Applications, Procedures, and Policies All students are invited to visit with or direct inquiries and requests for applications to the Director of Housing, Weber State College, Ogden, Utah 84408. Upon request, an application and housing information will be furnished. The application should then be completed and returned with a $50.00 deposit. This deposit will be refunded upon completion of the Housing Occupancy Contract. Priority lists are based on date of receipt of application. Room assignments are normally made prior to students arrival. Acceptance of application and deposit does not constitute admission to the College. Application for admission to the College is made at the Admissions Office, Weber State College, Ogden, Utah 84408. Students living in College-operated residence halls agree by written contract to retain their accommodations for the entire quarter. CHARGES FOR COLLEGE FACILITIES ARE PAYABLE IN ADVANCE. IF PAYMENTS ARE PAST DUE, THE STUDENT WILL BE RESTRICTED FROM BOARD AND ROOM SERVICES. Students who are living in one type facility (board and room or apartment) who desire to transfer to another type facility have first preference for occurring vacancies over students not living in the residence halls. Some students have found that when they desire the LaSal or Stansbury apartments and vacancies are not immediately available, it is more practical for them to accept board and room accommodations and request placement in the apartments as soon as vacancies occur and are available to them. Residential Housing Listings of housing facilities in the community are available by a personal visit to the Housing Office. Summer Housing The College residence halls are available to summer school students. ACADEMIC ADVISEMENT At the time of admission to Weber State College every student is assigned to his major field or to the Academic Advisement Office for general advisement if he has not declared his major. Thus, guidance is available for each student as he plans his registration schedules and moves toward a degree of his choice or toward a certificate program. 16 Academic Standards A student with any educational problem may seek assistance from a departmental adviser at any time. For information concerning general advisement (undeclared majors), students may inquire at the Advisement Office. A student who wishes to change his major may officially do so by request at the Advisement Office, Room 103, in the Administration Building, or bv calling Weber State College. ACADEMIC STANDARDS The Academic Standards Program exists to help students perform more nearly in accordance with their potential. Any student whose graded performance is lower than he thinks it should be, may, at his request, receive evaluation of and help concerning ability, study skill, choice of major, and personal problems. Students whose cumulative grade average is below a C or 2.0 level will be placed on warning or probation as indicated below. These students will not be eligible to participate in certain college-sponsored activities. (See Eligibility Standards.) Categories of probation are defined by grade point deficits below the total required for a C average. The deficit is reported at the bottom of the student's Report of Grades. Any questions should be directed to the Director of Academic Standards in the Administration Building. Academic Warning (1 to 15 grade points below a C average). Students on warning will receive formal notification of their status. It is recommended that they visit with an academic adviser or counselor. Academic Probation (16 or more grade points below a C average). Performance resulting in a grade point deficit of 16 or more points places a student on prcbation. The student's registration may be regulated by a counselor, and he should plan to work closely with a counselor until such time as he is taken off probation. Suspension Students on academic probation who fail to improve their grade point average will be suspended from further attendance at Weber State College. Readmission will be considered only in cases where the student can present evidence to the Admissions Committee which would indicate positive change in circumstances suggesting a high probability of future academic success. GRADUATION Weber State College grants the degrees of Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science, and Bachelor of General Studies; titles of Associate of Arts, Associate of Science and Associate of Applied Science; an Institutional Diploma and an Institutional Certificate. Application for GraduationA candidate for the bachelor degree should file an Application for Graduation obtained at the Graduation Office at least three quarters prior to the quarter the student plans to finish. Students who don't apply until the quarter they plan to graduate will automatically be moved up to the next quarter. Each applicant will receive a written report on his standing for graduation upon which to plan the work for his senior year. Students who complete degree requirements during any quarter of the academic year will receive their diploma the next quarter. However, Commencement Exercises will be conducted only after Spring Quarter for graduates from Summer, Autumn, Winter, and Spring of that academic year. The only exception to the above policy will be candidates for one year certificates. Applications will not be considered during the last few weeks before commencement, unless special permission is given by the Dean of Admissions and Records. A candidate for graduation must pay his graduation fee at the Cashier's Office at the time he is making application for graduation. For a student to be admitted to candidacy for any degree or title, his scholastic record must show that he has satisfied the entrance requirements and that he can fulfill the requirements for graduation. No credit obtained prior to the time a student matriculates will be used toward graduation requirements unless approved by the Graduation Committee. 17 |
