Show Composite Majors Program: Social Science Composite Teaching Major Bachelor Degree I. General Requirements: A. Specific course requirements of the college (see index). B. Bachelor Degree General Education requirements (see index). Psychology 101 (5) in the Social Science area is recommended for Social Science Composite Teaching majors. C. A minor is not required. D. Social Science Composite Teaching majors must have a C or better in major courses. E. Social Science Composite Teaching majors must achieve an overall 2.25 G. P. A. F. 183 total hours are required for this degree. G. Sixty of the 183 total hours must be upper division (courses numbered 300 and above). H. Students obtaining a Social Science Composite Teaching major must satisfy the School of Education Certification Program (see Teacher Education Program). These courses must include the following: Education 195 (1), 300 (3), 350 (3), 363 (3), 462 (3), 364 (4), 495 (15), 499 (5). II. Specific Requirements: A. The Social Science Composite Teaching major consists of an academic major in one of the following three areas: Geography,* History, Political Science (see index for program). B. Besides the above major, a total of 45 credit hours in three of the areas listed in 1 and 2 below. At least one of the three must be from those listed in 1. A minimum of fourteen credit hours approved by the department chairman must be completed in each of the three areas. Courses taken to meet this requirement may also be used to satisfy General Education area requirements if appropriate. 1. Geography, History, Political Science. 2. Anthropology, Sociology, Economics, Psychology. C. Support course required: Communication 102 (3) or an approved equivalent and Education 450 (3). *A student wishing to major in Geography should work out his program with the department chairman, since a Social Science Composite major's program will vary from the Geography departmental major as outlined. 56 Composite Majors Program: Theatre Arts and Communication Composite Teaching Major (Theatre Arts Emphasis)Bachelor Degree I. Communication Composite Teaching majors must have a C or better in major courses. E. Theatre Arts and Communication Composite Teaching majors must achieve an overall 2.25 G. P. A. Theatre Arts courses required (57 credit hours): Theatre Arts 111 (2), 112 (3), 113 (3), 114 (3), 115 (2), 116 (2), 117 (2), 125 (2), 201 (2), 212 (3), 213 (3), 241 (3), 343 (3), 351 (5), 401 (5), 411 (3), 412 (3), 415 (3), 471 (3), 499 (2). 3. Theatre Arts courses to elect from (three credit hours): Theatre Arts 101 (3), 102 (3), 103 (3), 106 (1-2), 243 (3), 245 (3), 286 (1-2), 290 (1-2), 292 (1-6), 293 ( 2), 312 ( 3), 313 ( 3), 315 ( 3), 341 (3), 354 (3), 355 (3), 420 (3), 421 (3), 425 (3), 483 (1-3), 486 (1-3), 487 (1-3), 488 (1-3), 489 (1-2), 490 (1-2), 492 (1-6), 493 (2). 4. All majors are expected to participate in each main season production by accepting at least one of the various assignments, such as acting, technical crew, costume crew, makeup, box office, house management, stage management, assistant director, or promotion. Also, it is expected that prior to graduation, each major will have performed duties in each of the various areas. These requirements are designed to ensure the breadth of experience commensurate with an undergraduate theatre education. B. Communication 1. Minimum of 33 credit hours. 2. Communication courses required (23 credit hours): Communication 102 (3), 107 (3), 211 (2), 220 (3), 271 (3), 275 (3), 312 (3), 350 (3). 3. Communication course recommended: Communication 485 (3), 4. Communication courses to elect from (ten credit hours): 103 (3), 104 (1), 111 (3), 112 (3), 113 (3), 118 (3), 170 (3), 207 (3), 215 (3), 216 (4), 217 (3), 221 (1/2), 232 (3), 235 (3), 240 (3), 245 (3), 273 (1), 292 (1-6), 307 (3), 313 (3), 314 (3), 315 (3), 316 (3), 319 (3), 320 (4), 321 (3), 322 (3), 326 (3), 328 (3), 345 (3), 372 (2), 373 (3), 374 (3), 380 (3), 407 (3), 415 (3), 421 (1/2), 475 (2), 476 (3), 480 (1-2-3), 485 (3), 486 (3), 489 (2), 492 (1-6), 499 (2). 5.
