Show Student Assistance ACADEMIC IMPROVEMENT Academic Improvement is designed to assist those students who need additional developmental educational experiences to be successful at the college level. Academic Improvement personnel coordinate and provide for academic and career guidance, basic skills development, tutorial assistance, and other developmental education experience as needed by the student. Contact the Advisement Office (Room 103 Adm. Bldg.), the Advisement Outreach Office (Room 34 Lib.), or the Academic Improvement Office (Room 33 Lib.) for further information. STUDENT HEALTH CENTER The Health Service of Weber State College has been established for the education and protection of students. In the event a student is injured or becomes suddenly ill while on campus, the Office of Campus Police should be called, phone 626-6460. The student will then be transported to his doctor, the Student Health Center, or the hospital, for care. After office hours, the student should call his private physician, or Campus Police for transportation to the hospital. The Student Health Center is located in Annex IV, just north of the Office of Campus Police. The Center is open from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. The health staff consists of a part-time physician, and a registered nurse. Treatment and consultation may be arranged for by appointment or by visiting the Center during office hours. Medical care at the Student Health Center is paid from student health service fees. Any further medical care beyond that provided at the Health Center must be paid for by the student or his/her insurance plan. A health and accident policy for students is available only at time of registration at a special rate. This insurance plan is especially designed for students at Weber State College for protection against medical expenses for injury and illness. Unless the student is protected by some other form of insurance, it is strongly urged that he/she take advantage of the low cost insurance plan. Students are encouraged to consult the Health Service on any problem they may have concerning their health. WEBER STATE COLLEGE UNION The Weber State College Union is the social, cultural, and recreational center of the campus for students, faculty, staff, alumni, and guests. All student government facilities, offices and council rooms are located in the Union. Students, faculty, staff, alumni, and guests are encouraged to use the facilities and services. Reservations for meeting spaces and other facilities should be made well in advance. A list of services is available at the Weber State College Union. All groups using the facilities are required to observe Union policy. Those groups who do not observe Union policy will be excluded from using the facilities. Staff members working directly with the students are: the Director of the Union and Student Activities, Assistant Union Director, the Coordinator of Student Activities, and Coordinator of Student Government, Games Area Manager, and Arts and Crafts Manager. Students serving on Union activities committees are provided opportunities for growth in human development. Union committees available are: Arts and Crafts. Cultural, Dance. Films, Games. Lectures, Married Students, Music and Talent, and Special Events. All students are invited to apply to the student body officers, to the committee chairpersons, or the Union staff for assignments to these committees.
