Show Life History of MARY FARLEY MARRIOTT continued by MADELEINE MARRIOTT HARROP In that my mother never finished writing her history, I will fill in information where she left off. Much of the following information was related to me by her or observed first hand. Mother was of light complexion, clear light skin, medium brown natural curly hair. Her eyes were light brown and her height was about 5'3". Mother mentioned that her mother-in-law Teresa (Trezer) was anxious for them as a newly married couple to live in her home on 22nd Street while she was residing in Evanston, Wyoming. Teresa was going there to be with her daughter Eliza Lauder whose husband had died unexpectedly from pneumonia. His death left Eliza with two small daughters to raise and provide for. Had mother chosen a career in life, there is no doubt she would have met with success. She had ambition, a drive, and a capacity to achieve. All of these qualities were also noted and appreciated by my sister, brothers and the grandchildren. As I was growing up I realized what a remarkable, wonderful mother I was blessed with. Although she was busy about her household duties, she was always joyful and pleasant to be around. Mother told me that when she was a young married woman, as time passed, she found her husband had a temper. She acknowledged she had one too. She came to the conclusion that to have a peaceful environment in their home, she would have to control her own temper and she developed a calm disposition. She possessed great patience, understanding and love. She taught us by example never rasing her voice in anger. Her children came to her for advice which was given in a. thoughtful, loving concerned way. Her life was filled with many challenges.
