Show SIMEON ALONZO FARLEY Written by MADELEINE MARRIOTT HARROP (his niece) Simeon Alonzo Farley is the son of Madeleine Malan Farley and Isaac Robeson Farley. He was born the 13th of May 1864 in Ogden, Weber County, Utah. When he was between six and seven years of age, he moved with his parents to a farm in West Weber. He kept busy with his father at the many chores. His father had stock on an island not far from their home. Other families were allowed to graze their cattle there, too. Simeon was a dutiful son and a loving brother to his sisters. During the snow season, he would make a path with his shoes and they would follow him for three miles to school. As a young man, he learned to barber and became very proficient. This was his livelihood for all his life. It was while he was barbering in Ogden that he became acquainted with Charles A. Marriott and George "W" Gibson who were also barbers. The three men became brothers-in-law as Simeon's sister Jennie married George and his sister Mary married Charles. When Simeon married Nora Barker, they were blessed with a very attractive and talented family. He always showed great love and concern for each of his children. He was a very kind and gentle person and always showed respect and love for his parents. One of the enjoyable times of his life was when his half brother Edward, who was also his first cousin, invited him to barber with him on a ship that sailed from Seattle to Long Beach. Edward spent many years barbering on ships and in his later years had a barber shop in the Savoy Hotel in Seattle. Edward and Simeon were handsome and distinguished looking. They looked so much alike one would think they were twins.
