Show My sister Ida remembers these things about Mother: she. always had a smiling face, was very busy, and enjoyed telling of the happenings of the day. There was no sarcasm in her. She had friends of all ages, and she could converse with them at whatever level of interest they had. She was always young-at-heart enjoying young, youthful fun and helped placate youthful dilemmas. a favorite song of hers was "Lay My Head Beneath a Rose." Mother had two nieces in particular who used to visit her until their dates would come to pick them up. When the nieces married, they and their husbands had a special love for her all of their lives and often visited her with their children. These nieces were Celestia Forsgren Peterson and husband William (Bill) and Vida Shaw Wilcox and husband Chester (Chet). Another niece, Oril Shaw Norseth and her husband Judge Parley Norseth, attorney Sammy Blackham and is wife Grace and other children of Ophelia and their spouses would also visit often. The grandchildren mother raised were especially appreciative of mother and loved her dearly. They would often surprise her by sending or bringing to her unexpected gifts. The following are some of mother's dearest friends: Cora and Ed Johnson, Margaret Sanford, Hannah (Annie) White, Annie Johnson Slater, Malinda and Nephi Matthews, Lottie Swensen, Harriet (Hattie) Jones Read, Sadie Barker, Violet Norton, Patriarch Miles L. In 1951 Mother received the following from a good friend and ward member: I'm rather ashamed at this late date To send my Congratulation! But how could you know, if I didn't say That I hold you in fond admiration? Your lovely smile, your charm and grace Your kind, understanding heart Are all a sweet influence To the friendship you impart, I'm wishing your eightieth Birthday Will remain something very dear, Bringing you Joy and Contentment Long after your eightieth year.
