Show after school in dress shops. Aunt Lettie bought a home on the South side of Canyon Road midway between Washington Avenue and Jefferson Avenue. She was always very hospitable. We would often visit her when she was in her 80's and living in her daughter Donna's home. She loved flowers and often on special occasions was given a corsage or gardenia. She had a love for beautiful horses perhaps acquired from her father's care for his horses. During all of Donna's younger life she cared for her mother. When Donna married Willard Heed, he always provided a lovely area in their homes or apartments for Aunt Lettie to enjoy. Aunt Lettie had a rocker which had belonged to grandmother Madeleine Malan Farley. It was a small chair. As years passed by and Aunt Lettie passed away, it was given to her son who prized this dearly. Grant worked in balsam wood and knew the types of wood it was made of and may have refinished it. After Grant passed away at Donna and Willard's home in Ventura, California. Donna suggested that we take the rocking chair home with us. It is now at 1255 Henderson Drive in Ogden. Remembering My Aunt LETTIE FARLEY FORSGREN by IDA VIRGINIA MARRIOTT KYLE We always envied Aunt Lettie and her daughter Donna Forsgren because they lived right in the heart of Ogden City. Often when we went shopping, we would stop at Aunt Lettie's house to visit a short time. She always cheerfully greeted us and made us feel at home. She was always very properly and beautifully-attired. She was a pretty aunt whose jokes were often followed by mild laughter. Aunt Lettie took in male boarders to help defray expenses. |
