Glasgow-(Continued) 6-2-19 Guess Id better lay off that rhyming stuff or I’ll never get to bed tonight. We traveled all the way down Loch Lomond finally landing about six o’clock at a little station on the lower end, where a train waited to take us to Glasgow passing on the way Dumbarton Castle where Mary Queen of Scots spent her last night on earth. The railroad followed the Clyde river almost all the way up to Glasgow, and it brought to my mind mother’s song: “On the banks of the Clyde stood a lad and his Lassie. The lad’s name was Geordie, the lassie’s was Jean” We arrived at Glasgow at 8:10 came to the big five story hotel run by the Y.M.C.A. where I am now, had supper then took a turn around town, meeting up with a couple of nice Scotch lassies who showed us some of the interesting spots in the city. Had quite a nice evening with them, getting back to the Hotel about 11:30. It is now long after 12 0’clock and Woody is snoring on his pillow so I guess I’ll turn in and sleep as we leave tomorrow for Derby where I’m to visit my relatives at Ripley. Glasgow is a large city and seems almost like a city in the U.S.A. lots of beautiful places around here but I don’t like the place as well as Edinburgh. I could settle down in that place and be “almost” satisfied. Good night old journal. More tomorrow night from Ripley.
