London June 7th (Continued) Sunday of nearly all the old English Kings. A wonderfully interesting trip it was too to wander thru those old places and see the memorials erected to the memory of the ancient rulers of England that I’ve read so much about. Here also is located what they call the Poet’s Corner in which are buried, Charles Dickens, Lord Tennyson, Samuel Johnson and many other literary men of note. We were at Westminster Abbey about 3:30 so didn’t meet our girl friends. Don’t know what they thought of us, but I wasn’t going to miss seeing the Abbey for them. There’s plenty of others here anyway and After I got into that old Abbey you couldn’t have pulled me out of it for all the girls on earth until I’d gone clear thru it. Its simply a wonderful structure with its old Gothic and Norman Architecture all carved so beautifully. And the Altar where all the Coronations take place is simply magnificent. We were shown the Coronation Chair which was brought from Scotland by Edward I, a simple looking common arm chair placed over the large stone over which tradition says Every ruler of England must be crowned. I sure Enjoyed the day, and that trip thru the Abbey for its one of the most interesting places in all England. Tomorrow we must go back to Southampton Oh Lord!
