Show Pearl Harbor The Six Companies partners divided between themselves numerous Pacific Island contracts with the Navy. Utah Construction took the lead on Samoa, completing 98 separate projects, which included bomb-proof buildings and a storage system. The company also tackled projects on Oahu in the Hawaiian Islands, erecting hospitals, barracks, and other buildings in Honolulu. Outside of the capitol city the company built airfields, drydocks, and other military facilities. Pearl Harbor, as the home of the Pacific Fleet, was so well-armed that the Navy assumed it was the last place the Japanese would be likely to attack. |
