Show Although dangerous uranium tailings were abandoned throughout the West and Southwest by various companies, Lucky Mc added chloride to water pumped from the pit complex to remove radium 226 before the water was discharged into surface drainage. Eventually Lucky Mc changed its name to Pathfinder Mines Corporation, which finished reclaiming and restoring the mining area. In 1982 France-which depends heavily on nuclear power-purchased Pathfinder through COGEMA, a government-owned enterprise. |
