Show ELECTIONS ASWSC 1971-72 leadership was determined in an election clouded with controversy. Dan Hunter was declared the winner of the Presidential clash after a de-cision for a revote was reversed. According to Election Committee Chairman, John Ferrara, a cardboard box, instead of a regular locked ballot box was used in Promontory Towers. The election procedure was challenged because this box should have been delivered unopened to the chairman. Instead, the box had been opened, ballots counted, and then left in the office of the Student Coordinator. A serious question arose when the results showed that if the controversial box was thrown out of the election, Glen Curtis would have won by 27 votes; with the box added to the total, Dan Hunter would be declared winner by 21 votes. A decision for a revote was made by the Executive Cabinet, the Elections Committee, and the presidential candidates. The decision was reversed by the Executive Committee declaring Hunter the winner. Fran Wheeler was unopposed for legislative vice president. Jerry Burns polled 1072 votes to defeat Craig Boswell's 894 votes for executive vice president. Phil Johnson won financial vice president with 1004 votes against Mike Sanders with 963 votes. Tom Davenport with 766 votes won activities vice president over Maria Abramo with 727 and Louona Harline's 478. Steve Glines and Don Hughes were the victors in the Senator-at-large race defeating Bob Lindquist and Kim Slater. MISS WSC PAGEANT "Come Touch the Sun" was the theme of the Miss Weber State Pageant for 1971. The beauty of the contestants combined with the romantic nostalgia of the 1890's in creating an atmosphere of sublime elegance. Kathy Wood, a former Miss Utah, and Christy Cox, Miss Weber State 1969, served as Mistresses of Ceremonies. Judges Mrs. Kay Fullmer, Mrs. Stephen A. Smith, Mrs. B. J. Brewster, Mr. Thomas Jones and Mr. Dorius Gray combined their votes in naming Pam Nelson Miss WSC for 1971-72. Selected as her attendants were Mary Jane Hoffman, first attendant, and Kris Carmire, second attendant. Contestants were judged on talent (50 percent), swim suit and evening gown appearances (each 25 percent).
