Show JOSE GRECO AND NANA LORCA The excitement of Spanish dance came to the spotlight February 12 when Jose Greco and his dancers and Nana Lorca's Flamenco Dance Theatre appeared in the Weber State College Fine Arts Theatre. They were describd as "the contrast between light and shadow, sensuous images and haunted outcasts, passion and gloom, and the exuberant joys of the Spanish world." The Spanish dance performance was exciting and enjoyable tor all who attended. AUDUBON FILMS Sponsored by the National Audubon Society and the Weber State College Botany, Microbiology and Zoology departments the Audubon Wildlife Films came to the WSC campus this year lor their nineteenth season. The WSC Audubon program was started nineteen years ago under the direction of the Lite Sciences departments headed by Dr. Young. Dr. Young is still the head of the program on campus today and according to him, their purpose then, as it is today, was to "make students realize there was a practical phase of application of the biological sciences." It is the science department's only real contact with the public; otherwise science is a completely separate thing from the community. All of the films deal with history, ecology and the environment. The five films which came to the WSC campus this year were: Walter Berlet's "Hawaii - Paradise of the Pacific"; D. J. Nelson with "Three Seasons North"; Roy E. Coy and his "Botswana - Africa's Last Frontier"; Martin Bruce's "Galapagos," and Robert E. Fultz with "Acadian Reflections.' These films and the whole program on the Weber State campus have been from the start "part of the whole scientific effort of conservation." |
