Show There were the usual speculations on who was going to win the Conference Crown, but as the season progressed and potential favorites were eliminated by our powerful performers, the conjecture faded. Bill Orr (above) puts in a soft jump shot against Boise St. In the same game Bob Davis led the scoring with 25 points and nabbed some valuable rebounds (Top Right). Rich Cooper showed superb sophomore strength as he dropped in 17 points and pulled down an equal number of rebounds to help blast Montana State (Top Center). Despite being ill most of the season, Willie Sojourner made several Ail-American squads and was invited to play in lour post-season Senior Ail-American contests. You think this is good (Bottom Left), you should have seen him when he was healthy. Curt Nations (Bottom Right) pumps from outside to help cap Weber's highest scoring game of the season against the Seattle Chieftons. "IMPOSSIBLE DREAM" TO STARK REALITY It there were some in Logan who had never heard of us before (Top Left), the lesson we were happy to leave with them on the fundamentals of basketball should stimulate their awareness. It was a perfect game, just the way Coach Johnson had planned it. The so-called "powerful" Aggie offense was held, frustrated for most of the game (Top Right and Bottom). Willie had his sky hook in working order as he blocked several Aggie shots (Left Center). Two steals by Jon Knoble and four consecutive free throws by Brady Small in the last two and a half minutes of the game to overcome a "soft freeze" stall by the "Nationally Ranked" Aggies capped the long-awaited victory of Utah's newest and greatest Basketball power. |
