The Student Association has capitalized on filling all the needs of all L.D.S. students and correlating with other organizations designed to meet these needs. Five executive officers coordinate the efforts of eighteen other students who serve as chairmen over such committees as Programs, Publications, Missionary, Service, Social, Sports, Institute, Advertising, and the L.D.S. fraternities and sorority The following are just a few of the events which prove that this year's theme "Think L.D.S.S.A.!" has been accomplished: the Leadership Retreat at Aspen Grove, the President's Honor Night, the SupercalliTALENTreffic L.D.S.S.A. Show," the New Year's Eve party, "It Will Be Forever," and Service in Youth Banquet. OGDEN INSTITUTE MALE CHORUS "Musically Superb and Spiritually Inspirational" is the goal of the Ogden Institute Male Chorus in its musical presentations. But to its members, the Chorus is more than a musical organization. For each of the fifty-two men who sing in the Ogden Institute Male Chorus, it is being part of one of the greatest fraternities of men at Weber State. It is being able to sing for the fun of singing. It is being in a rehearsal sharing a hearty laugh one minute and the next minute being moved to tears as the spirit of God moves through the Chorus and touches the heart and soul of each singer. For each of the Chorus, in some degree, it is an awakening experience to things of greater magnitude than the mere physical, materialistic world. For some, it provides the occasion for a romance, which blossoms into courtship and marriage. And to all, it is an opportunity to break away from the drudgery and pressure of work, school, and sometimes just living. To each individual in the Chorus, its meaning and importance is of personal significance. One thing, however, stands out as unanimous among all; that is, the Male Chorus provides the opportunity to sit at the feet of a "master" director and accompanist and learn the patterns and secrets of a happy, abundant, and successful life. This, in the final analysis, is the Ogden Institute Male Chorus, its purpose, its heart, its soul, and its sustenance; to make of each of its members a leader of character, faith, and ability, through song, precept, example, and dedicated service. MELO-AIRES The Melo-Aires is a ladies' triple trio affiliated with the L.D.S. Institute of Religion. They are featured with the Male Chorus, and have performed in many places, including the annual tour, where their main purpose was promoting missionary work for the L.D.S. Church. This year they have enjoyed singing together at many functions and concerts. But most of all they enjoy the warm friendships that they made because of their close associations with one another. |
