Show Composite Majors Program: English and Theatre Arts Composite Teaching Major (English Emphasis)Bachelor Degree I. General Requirements: A. Specific course requirements of the college (see index). B. Bachelor Degree General Education requirements (see index). Psychology 101 (5) in the Social Science area is recommended for English and Theatre Arts Composite Teaching majors. C. A minor is not required. D. English and Theatre Arts Composite Teaching majors must have a C or better in major courses. E. English and Theatre Arts Composite Teaching majors must achieve an overall 2.25 G. P. A. F. 183 total hours are required for this degree. G. Sixty of the 183 total hours must be upper division (courses numbered 300 and above). H. Students obtaining an English and Theatre Arts Composite Teaching major must satisfy the School of Education Certification Program (see Teacher Education Program). These courses must include the following: Education 195 (1), 300 (3), 350 (3), 363 (3), 462 (3), 364 (4), 495 (15), 499 (5). II. Specific Requirements: A. English 1. Minimum of 45 credit hours. 2. English courses required: a. All of the following: English 236 (3), 321 (3); 381 (3) or 382 (3); 499 (2); 324 (3) and 329 (3) prior to student teaching. b. One of the following: English 452 (3), 453 (3), 454 (3), 455 (3). c. One of the following: English 461 (5), 462 (5), 463 (5), 464 (5), 465 (5), 466 (5). d. One of the following: English 335 (3), 336 (3), 337 (3). e. One of the following: 368 (5), 369 (5). 3. English courses recommended: English 367 (3), 370 (3), 371 (2), 373 (3), 374 (5), 382 (3), 475 (3). 4. English courses to elect from (eighteen credit hours): English 225 (3), 235 (2), 330 (3), 331 (3), 335 (3), 336 (3), 337 (3), 350 (3), 355 (3), 358 (3), 360 (3), 372 (3), 380 (3), 388 (3), 483 (2-5), 492 (3). 5. Support courses recommended where feasible: French 313 (3), 431 (3); German 202 (5), 313 ( 3), 440 (3), 442 (3), 460 (3); Spanish 203 (3), 416 (2), 417 (3). B. Theatre Arts 1. Minimum of 42 credit hours of Theatre Arts courses. 2. Theatre Arts courses required: Theatre Arts 111 (2), 112 (3), 113 (3), 114 (3), 115 (2), 116 (2), 117 (2), 225 (2), 241 (3), 315 (3), 337(3), 411 (3), 415 (3), 420 (3), 471 (3), 499 (2). C. Courses required in three of the four departments: Chemistry, Geology-Geography, Mathematics and Physics. At least 27 hours of specific courses must be taken in one department and at least 20 hours in each of the other two departments selected. 1. Chemistry courses required: a. Twenty-seven hour list: Chemistry 121 (5), 122 (5), 123 (5); at least twelve hours from Chemistry 213 (5), 311 (4), 312 (4), 341 (4). b. Twenty hour list: Chemistry 121 (5), 122 (5), 123 (5); five hours from Chemistry 213 (5), 311 (4), 312 (4). 2. Geology-Geography courses required: a. Twenty-seven hour list: Geology 111 (4) and 112 (1), or 420 (5); 122 (5), 204 (4), 206 (3); 295 (1-8) and/or 495 (1-8); two of Geology 306 (4), 315 (4) or 318 (4); Geography 101 (5). b. Twenty hour list : Geology 111 (4) and 112 (1) or 420 (5); 122 (5), 204 (3), 206 (3); 295 (1-8) and/or 495 (1-8); one of Geology 306 (4), 318 (4), or 315 (4); Geography 101 (5) also recommended. 3. Mathematics courses required: a. Twenty-seven hour list: Mathematics 107 (5), 211 (5), 212 (5), 213 (5); 310 (4) or 312 (4) or 331 (4); one additional course selected from Mathematics 310 (4), 331 (4), 335 (4), 341 (4). b. Twenty hour list: Mathematics 107 (5), 211 (5), 212 (5), 213 (5); 310 (4) or 312 (4) or 331 (4). 4. Physics courses required: a. Twenty-seven hour list: Physics 261 (4), 262 (4), 263 (4), 264 (1), 265 (1), 266 (1); at least twelve hours from 101 (5) or 107 (5), and 103 (5), 311 (3), 312 (3), 331 (3), 332 (3), 351 (3), 352 (3), 461 (4), 462 (4). b. Twenty hour list: Physics 261 (4), 262 (4), 263 (4), 264 (1), 265 (1), 266 (1); at least five hours from Physics 101 (5) or 103 (5), or 107 (5), and 311 (3), 312 (3), 331 (3), 332 (3), 351 (3), 352 (3), 461 (4), 462 (4).
