Show Allied Health Sciences Nursing which can he applied when planning and giving care to various age groups with more complex health problems. Opportunities are provided for the student to assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care of patients with an alteration of their basic needs. Concurrent theory and guided clinical experiences are planned in medical, surgical, pediatric, and psychiatric nursing in various settings. Four lecture hours and three 5-hour labs a week. (Each section taught one-half quarter) A W S 225. Basic Life Support and Emergency Care on Nursing (5) Elective. This 60 hour, 5 credit class includes the essential information for developing the fundamental first aid and emergency nursing skills required by nurses. Course content will include 9 hours of cardiopulmonary resuscitation, emergency childbirth, emergency care of specific wounds and fractures, emergency rescue techniques and legal aspects of emergency care. Emergency Care and Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation will be issued upon successful completion of the course. TBA 226. Basic Coronary Care (3) Emphasis is placed on the care and treatment of patients in coronary care units, with particular emphasis on nursing skills necessary to treat patients with arrhythmias. The class contains a basic introduction to blood gases. TBA 283. Directed Readings and Projects (1-5) (May be repeated for a total of five credits.) A W S 292. Short Courses, Workshops, Institutes and Special Programs (1-6) In order to provide flexibility and to meet many different needs, a number of specific offerings are possible using this catalog number. When the number is used it wiM be accompanied by a brief and specific descriptive title.
