Show Humanities Art Program: Art Major (General)Bachelor Degree I. General Requirements: A. Specific course requirements of the college (see index). B. Bachelor Degree General Education requirements (see index). C. A minor is not required. D. Art majors must have a C or better in major courses. E. Art majors must have an overall G.P.A. of 2.00 or C. F. 183 total hours are required for this degree. G. Sixty of the 183 total hours must be upper division (courses numbered 300 and above). II. Specific Requirements: A. Minimum of 60 credit hours of Art courses. B. Art courses required: General Art majors are required to take the drawing and design sequences and Art 180 the freshman year. General Art majors shall not be allowed to take classes numbered 200 or above until the foundation program has been completed. Transfer students contact the Art Department Chairperson for advisement. Foundation (21 credit hours) (freshman year): Drawing Sequence Design Sequence Autumn Art 111 (3) Art 116(3) Art 180(3) Winter Art 112 (3) Art 117 (3) Spring Art 113 (3) Art 118 (3) Required Classes (38 credit hours): Art 207 (3), 208 (3); three of the following four classes: 130 (3), 154 (3), 235 (3), 270 (3): one of the following: 222 (3), 223 (3), 224 (3); two of the following: 260 (3), 261 (3), 262 (3), 265 (3); and 301 (3), 302 (3), 303 (3). Photo 101 (5). C. Art courses to elect from (1 credit hour): One class approved by the department chairperson. D. Support courses recommended: Photography 202 (3), 203 (3). Psychology 101 (5) in the Social Science area is recommended. C. A minor is required. D. Art majors must have a C or better in major courses. E. Art Teaching majors must achieve an overall 2.25 G.P.A. F. 183 total hours are required for this degree. G. Sixty of the 183 total hours must be upper division (courses numbered 300 and above). H. Must satisfy the School of Education Certification Program (see Teacher Education Program).
