Show RUTH SCOWCROFT Vice President JOHN EMMETT President CLEONE LINDSAY Secretary-Treasurer WE SUGGESTED AS A REMEDY for a long-drawn-out "honor day" this year, the following: "Will Class '21 please come forward and accept the honors for the year 1918-19?" But, seriously speaking, the Sophomores have outdone every class in the school this year- even the mighty Juniors were forced to bow before us. We have won everything. (Do you notice any symptoms of a large hat needed? Editor.) On account of the "flu" our school year has been considerably shortened and our activities somewhat hampered. Nevertheless, the moment the ban was lifted the school found the Sophs enjoying the first party of the season in the fine arts room. Then came basketball, and our invincible team, to the astonishment of the school, walked off with the honors. With basketball championship to our credit, a strong desire to achieve all the honors was naturally created, and our ambitions were practically realized when we won the interclass baseball series and the yelling contest. After our second basketball victory over Brigham, Class '21 gave a "swell" matinee, soon followed by another class party, which resulted in every Soph getting his fill of ice cream and cake for the first time in history. Then came debating, resulting in the defeat of the Freshmen by John Emmett and Helen Hinckley, the famous Sophomore orators. The Juniors beat the Seniors, then the two championship teams met in the final struggle. After a very close debate our team was made champion by the unanimous vote of the judges. This has been a banner year for the Sophomores. Let us inform you that we have two more coming. |
