Show College and Professional Program I The following courses are suggested for the guidance of students who desire to complete their lower division requirements for the study of professional and college courses. EDUCATION This course is planned for students desiring to teach in the elementary or secondary schools of Utah. Freshman Year Any deviations from the above curriculum may be given by the Dean of Instruction or by the adviser of Education. Many of the above courses are taught each quarter, therefore, students may choose the quarter they desire to pursue specific subjects. A student intending to teach in the high school should consult the adviser of Education regarding the substitution of courses and requirements for specific colleges. LEADING TO THE STUDY OF LAW A student preparing for the study of Law should complete all regular requirements for the title of Associate of Arts or Associate of Science. The student should, with the advice and consent of his adviser and the teacher concerned, select courses pre-legal in content. Such courses as stenography, typewriting, business law, shop practice, music, and drawing may not satisfy the entrance requirements to the law schools. A student who is planning to meet requirements for the Bachelor of Arts degree, which is required by some schools for entrance to law, should pursue a foreign language. A student should also pursue a foreign language if he knows it is required in the law school that he plans to attend. A student should not fail to consult the catalogue of the particular school where he intends to pursue his law work, because the pre-legal requiremehts vary in different schools. FORESTRY Freshman Year If a student has had two years typing in high school, Business 61 and 62 may be omitted. If a student has not had advanced algebra in high school, he should register for Mathematics 1. Attendance at summer camp is required by all schools of Forestry and is pre-requisite for graduation. The summer camp courses should be taken between the sophomore and junior years. LEADING TO THE STUDY OF SOCIAL WORK A student preparing for Social Work should complete all regular requirements for the title of Associate of Arts or Associate of Science, and in addition, should complete Sociology 1, 2, and 8. It is recommended that the student take a course in each of the following social sciences: Economics, Political Science, Psychology, and Philosophy 1. He should also consult with his adviser so that his course may be well planned. ENGINEERING Freshman Year For all Engineering Students Students expecting to study Chemical, Mining, Geological, or Metallurgical Engineering must register for Chemistry 4, 5, 6 during the Freshman year. For other fields of Engineering an elective may be substituted for Engineering 6a. GENERAL AGRICULTURE In the field of Agriculture a student may choose a major in any one of the following courses: Agricultural Economics, Agronomy and soils, Animal Husbandry, Dairy Husbandry, Poultry Husbandry, Horticulture, and other related fields. The following curriculum will give the student the basic work necessary for specialization in any of the fields of agriculture.
