Show •58 59 Curriculum Requirements: Where there is a specific curriculum prescribed, such as the College of Engineering, a student should complete that specific curriculum as outlined in the Weber College Catalog. General Requirements: For a Bachelor's Degree, a student must complete a minimum of 183 quarter hours credit, 60 hours of which must be upper division work. Junior college credit will be accepted on the same basis as university lower division credit toward the completion of these requirements. The University reserves the right to reject transfer credit of "D" or barely passing. Transfer students fom other schools in Utah are required to present an average of "C" or better in their most recent work as well as in total to be eligible for admission in good standing. UTAH STATE UNIVERSITY Admission Requirenwnts: The standard minimum requirements for admission to any division of the University is graduation from an approved high school in the United States or equivalent training in a country whose educational systems differ from that in the United States. The College of Engineering has special requirements of admission. Stated briefly these are as follows: College of Engineering and Technology: Algebra, 1% units for Engineering curricula, 1 unit for Technology.4 Plane Geometry, 1 unit.4 Grades of "C" or better in Mathematics courses. Average grade of "C" or better for all high school courses. Applicants who have not been graduated from high school may be admitted by presenting satisfactory evidence of ability to do University work. This evidence may be demonstrated by presentation of an official transcript showing collegiate work previously taken as an unmatriculated student, or by examination taken in advance of registration. Such examinations as College Board Entrance Examinations, Scholastic College Aptitude Test, or other approved standardized tests which provide appropriate appraisal of scholastic abilities of the applicant shall be accepted for fulfilling this requirement. ♦Students with satisfactory scholarship, but with only one unit of Algebra and with no Geometry will be admitted, but must make up these deficiencies in addition to all other requirements by completing with grade of "C" or better, Math. 34, Intermediate Algebra, and Math. B, Plane Geometry. Lower Division Requirements: Specific Course Requirements: 1. Basic Communication or its equivalent (9 hours) 2. Physical Education or Military Science (6 hours) 3. Prepare a foundation of at least 15 credits for the field of . . specialized study in the upper division. Group Requirements: A total of 40 credits must be selected from the Biological , Science, Exact Science, Language and Arts, and Social Sci ence, with not less than eight nor more than twelve being counted in any one group. If you transfer to Utah State from a junior college which has general group requirements, you will be considered as having completed USU group requirements if you present evidence of an associate degree. Without this evidence you may be required to complete general lower division requirements. Junior college credit will be accepted on the same basis as college lower-division credit for the completion of these requirements. BRIGHAM YOUNG UNIVERSITY Admission Requirements: Your admission to B.Y.U. requires graduation from an approved high school, including completion of nine high school academic units from one or more of the following areas: Engish, mathematics, science, social science, foreign language. To be eligible for admission you also must have a grade- point average of 2.2 in high school work. If you have a grade- point average of 2.0 to 2.2, you may be admitted on academic probation. If you are a transfer student, you must present a satisfactory academic record from any college previously attended (grade-point average of 2.0 or above.) A student nineteen years of age or over who has not completed high school but who otherwise is eligible for admission may register as a regularly matriculated student after the successful completion of the high school level General Education Development Tests.
