Show Aubrey and Kathryn Dimick danced for us. Adam, Elijah, Hannah and Daylyn Brandley sang original songs composed by Adam. Matt Tipping, Steve Ito, and Philip Ito, the Hidden Talents band, played several numbers for our entertainment, including an original song, One Last Chance. Buzzy Ito showed her musical versatility as she joined the band in singing one song. Bits and Pieces Todd Spencer was one of six local high school students selected by the Standard Examinener a back-to-school shopping event in early August. Each of the students was given $150 and "turned loose" to purchase school clothing, with or without help. The result of Todd's shopping was shown in a special section of the paper on August 9, 2004, along with the five other students from the area. Beginning their regular season, last year's state 5-A cross-country title team, the Fremont Silver Wolves, won the American Fork Invitational on Saturday, August 28, 2004, defeating Provo High School. Fremont holds the state title for the years 2000, 2001, 2002 and 2003. They are nationally recognized in The Harrier magazine's preseason Nike-Foot Locker Super 25 national high school teams rankings, at Number 21. This is the third consecutive year they have appeared in the top 25. They are also ranked Number 4 in the southwest region. After training most of the past year, they posted individual times from eight to 51 seconds faster than those of the 2003 title meet, in an intersquad exhibition meet at Fremont High School. Representing our community well are Lindsey Slater, on the varsity team (14th in last year's title game), with Marcy Spencer, Annie Spencer, Kiera Dimick, and Kylee Deru on the junior varsity team. Josh Dimick runs for the boy's varsity cross country team at Fremont, with Brandon Savage on the JV team. Katie Smout and Bryn Heslington were winners in a Weber County Farm Bureau essay contest. Kade Stanger's soccer team took 7th place in the National Tournament in Lancaster, California. Chelsey Stanger won four gold medals and two silver ones at the summer games in gymnastics and power tumbling. Addison Jones, age 6, participated in the Mini Miss Weber County Pageant on August 6, 2004. She is the daughter of Chad and Lon Jones. Brodie Slater attained the Life Rank Advancement Award in Scouting. |
