Tessa Jean West, daughter of Dustin Eugene West and Amanda Garner, was born December 6, 2004. Hayden Seiber, son of Andrew and Natalie Seiber, was born December 25, 2004. Von Weston, son of Michael and J P Weston, was born December 26, 2004. Robert John Shufelt II died December 10, 2004, at the age of 56. Marjorie Slater Parkinson celebrated her 83rd birthday on December 6, 2004. Deborah DeVries, director of senior services for Volunteers of America, recently received a Foster Grandparent grant from the Corporation for National and Community Service, to provide services to low-income seniors in five counties. Tara Yates, a senior at Fremont High School, received Honorable Mention in the Standard Examiner All Area 2004 Soccer team announced on December 9, 2004. She was a defender on the high school team. A year 2000 picture of Alexander Holley vehemently protesting a visit to Santa Claus was featured in the Standard Examiner on December 12, 2004. The Standard had requested photographic evidence of children's reactions to such a visit, and many residents responded with photos depicting a wide variety of emotions. Alex is the son of Will and Julie Holley. Lindsey Slater was a member of Fremont High School's girls cross country team who traveled to Portland, Oregon, on Saturday, December 4, 2004, to participate in the first-ever Nike Team Nationals cross country championships. Fremont, running as a club team under the name Kamattae, finished fifth overall in the 20 team meet. Kylee Deru was named Fremont High School's Sterling Scholar for Social Science. Jessica Wilson won second place in the Northern States Natural Body Building Championship in the Women's Novice Division. |
