A study of the production of common forage crops and the principles of crop production. Three quarter hours. Spring. Miner 3. Animal Husbandry. A survey of the field of Animal Husbandry, emphasizing breeds and breed types, judging and selection of cattle, sheep, and horses Three quarter hours. Autumn. D. Anderson 5. Irrigation and Drainage. A study of the principles and practices of irrigation and drainage emphasizing the relation of soils and crops to irrigation, measurement of water, duty of water, irrigation of common crops, methods of irrigation, design of farm ditches and essentials of farm drainage. Three quarter hours. Autumn. D. Anderson 5a. Laboratory Course in Irrigation and Drainage. A course designed to accompany Agriculture 5. One laboratory period a week. One quarter hour. Autumn. D. Anderson 10. Elements of Fruit Production. An introductory course in the principles underlying profitable orchard management: methods of propagation and planting; selection of the proper sites and selection of varieties of fruits; pruning and proper care of trees; pest control, harvesting, storage, and marketing. Two lecture periods a week. Prerequisite: Botany 1 or 4. Two quarter hours. Autumn. Miner 10a. Laboratory Course in Elements of Fruit Production. A course designed to be taken with Agriculture 10 and not separately. One laboratory period a week. One quarter hour. Autumn.
