Show 25 G. The Board could help to show alumni of outside institutions who come here to work or to teach school the advantages of supporting Weber College and the inadvisability of being proselyting agents for high pressure alumni associations of other institutions. H. The Board could undoubtedly help to solve the problems of military training on the college level in the Ogden area where there is one of the best high school R.O.T.C.'s in the west. I. The local Board could do much to counteract the ever-growing and dangerous notion that an education is entirely to make a living by expounding the philosophy that education is to make a life as well as to make a living. J. The Board could encourage endowments and gifts to the college. K. The Board could help build a greater alumni association. In the Advisory Board meeting held April 10, 1952, Dr. E. Allen Bateman, Superintendent of Public Instruction, reviewed the functions of this board by stating that he thought it could serve in three areas: (1) in establishing a better understanding in the community of Weber College problems; (2) in helping the president by giving him better judgment on his special recommendations to the State Board of Education for their final action, and (3) in serving the State Board by bringing in recommendations independent of the president. |
