As the bugle blew, 365 loyal Weberites came to attention while the American flag and the school's Purple and White banner were hoisted up the pole. The "Star Spangled Banner" and the "Purple and White" were sung as never before. The inscription of the flagpole read; "Presented by the Associated Students of Weber College, 1922." "Oh, Ye Mountains High" was sung by Irving Poulter. The only stop on the descent was at Malan's Heights at 5:00 p.m. for supper. The climb to Mount Ogden added a chapter to the history of Weber College. The trail through Taylor's Canyon, past Malan's Heights, and up to the summit of Mount Ogden was thereafter known as, "The Weber Trail." In a meeting of the Weber College Board of Trustees held October 11, 1922, it was recorded that the hike to Mountain Ogden on October 4 was the largest and most successful initial movement of its kind ever participated in the state, and that 365 persons reached the summit.
