59 radiant bride looked down to her bridesmaids, who, with arms outstretched, were eagerly waiting to catch the bridal bouquet. On the second floor there were five bedrooms and a bath, while the third floor had four bedrooms and a bath. Washbasins were placed in some of the bedrooms. The bathtub on the second floor was one that the college girls will never forget. The girls described the tub as one getting into a swimming pool in comparison with the size of tubs today. All of the bedrooms were spacious. The master bedroom, located on the second floor, had an alcove veranda enclosed by French doors, and a large open fireplace which was so convenient during the winter months. The bedroom on the east also had a fireplace. In addition to the three stories, there was a basement which contained a dance hall and ample facilities for social functions. Storage rooms, shower rooms, and laundry facilities also were located there. The house was surrounded by beautifully landscaped grounds. On the north side, there was a garage with an apartment overhead. It was said that this garage could accomodate about ten automobiles. In the early days, buggies and sleighs were housed there. During World War I, Mrs. Eccles provided space in this apartment for Red Cross workers to make bandages and other necessary supplies.
