These honors for "Big Lee" follow: 1967 Time Magazine Ail-American 1st team offense (major college team) 1967 Football News Ail-American 1967 Drafted 1st round 17th player in the nation pro-drafts (New York Jets) 1967 UPI Player of the Year in Big Sky Conference 1966-67 Unanimous choice on UPI, AP & Official Big Sky teams Set Big Sky and school career rushing mark of 3,062 yards Set school mark of 1,378 yards rushing in single season 1967 AP "Little All-America" first team 1967 Set single game rushing mark of 276 yards vs Idaho 1967 Named one of ten top running backs in nation by Sports Illustrated 1967 Named to Kickoff Magazine's All Rockies All-Star squad 1966 AP All-American Honorable Mention Jim Schmedding Steve Holloway John Knight Steve Hanrahan MORE CATS GO PRO Eight more Wildcat football players will report to professional teams next season. Five of these big cats were drafted by the pros recently, the other three have signed as free agents. Jim Schmedding, who was 5th round choice of the Chicago Bears, received many honors this season. He was selected 1st team guard on the coaches All-American team, UPI lineman of the year of college division teams. He's been on the Big Sky All-Conference team for the past 2 years. Other pro drafts include: Steve Holloway - 8th round choice Denver Broncos; John Knight - 9th round Pittsburg Steelers; Steve Hanrahan - 9th round Cincinnati Bengals; and Henry Owens-11th round New York Jets. Signing as free agents were: Bill Rogers - Chicago Bears; Phil Tuckett - San Diego Chargers; and Chuck Aston - New Orleans Saints. |
