Volume 1, Issue 3 Youth Happenings... News from the Youth Department.... We had an awesome time at the New Zion Baptist Church Youth Department/Northern Utah Coalition Women/Girl’s Health Awareness. Professional women shared their challenges, experiences and concerns in an effort to teach our young women awareness. Adult women were able to gain more information on domestic violence and HIV/AIDs. We want to thank Sis. Sarah McClellan for the arrangements and to everyone else for their participation on making this event very successful. The Nursery will officially open on Sunday, April 6". The Youth Department will be asking for adult volunteers monthly to help with nursery responsibilities. The nursery has been renovated with new carpet and paint, play pen and crib. The Kids of Kings Choir presented their talents on Sunday, March 30". The kids have been practicing for a while now and are very eager to sing from their hearts. The Youth Department will be honoring our special mothers with special Mother’s Day cards. For a small donation, you may honor your mother, grandmother or that special mother in your life. The Kids of the King Choir will be performing one or two songs on the fourth Sunday each month along with the Youth Choir. The choir consists of children age 12 and younger. The Children of the King Dance Ministry gave a great performance in Praise dancing to the song “He is Lord”. The dance ministry performed at the Friday night revival service and Easter Sunday. Sis. Youth Department Fundraiser Mother’s Day Booklets The Youth Department of Zion is sponsoring a fundraiser that will allow them to have funds which they can use for purposes other than those funded through the church budget. With the vision God is showing our Pastor, the Youth Department would like to help by building a treasury to allow them to be able to bless areas in their own ministry as well as other ministries as the Lord lays on their heart. The fundraiser will be the start of the youth learning how to “handle their own” by being a blessing to others as well as helping to take care themselves. They will learn what it is to give, as well as to receive. It is the Youth Department’s hope, that in doing “our part”, we will be aiding the future financial needs of New Zion when the Lord brings about the vision for us. The fundraiser will be a “Mother’s Day Booklet”. This booklet comes in the form of a Sunday bulletin format. Names of mothers, grandmothers, aunts, godmothers, deceased mothers, mothers to be, and “other” mothers (those who you look at as a mother) can be inserted in the Mother’s Day Booklet for a donation of $2 per name. A booklet for each donation will be available to give to the named mother. Please assist the Youth Department in their first fundraiser in 2008 by donating through your submission of women in your life that you love who have been chosen by God to mother in whatever capacity she has.
