OUR CONDUCTORS Donald "Mr. T° Threlkeld “I gave up the band position in 1977. | taught Introduction to Music, music education courses, gave private instruction on double reeds and developed small ensembles. | retired in 1989. We have traveled, enjoyed our grandchildren in their activities and finished some home improvements. My hobby is composition. | do this for my own enjoyment.” Mr. Threlkeld and his wife Marilyn have three children, Doug (who is playing with us), Linda and Susan, as well as three grandchildren. Mr. “T" started directing the WSC band in 1965. We who “served under him" in the 1960's and 1970's feel that we had a very special experience, and have therefore initiated the first 2001 band reunion. Many of us woodwind players took private lessons from him, and have good memories of his patient and supportive methods. We certainly improved under his guidance! He instilled in us a desire for high standards, the opportunity to try new things, motivation for hard work and the ability to have fun at the same time. Enthusiasm was rampant! We worked hard to make the band an example of excellence. Rahqo! Rahqo! Rahgqo!
