Show Nursing Nursing Information can be obtained from the nursing program admissions secretary in the School of Allied Health Sciences. Applications must be completed and on file by 7 December for Spring admission (IHC), and 14 February for Fall admission (Weber State). Applicants for admission are reviewed and evaluated by the BSN admissions and advancement committee. Notification of acceptance is by mail. Associate Degree Nursing Applicants for admission - other than Weber State graduates - must first apply for admission to Weber State. Students will receive notification regarding admission as soon as the admission procedure has been completed. Students must also apply for admission to associate degree nursing. Students are eligible for admission into the BSN program upon meeting the following criteria: Graduate of accredited diploma or associate degree nursing program • Met all requirements for ASN as offered through Weber State (see following section) • Hold current Utah RN license (licensed in state of Utah) • Cumulative GPA of 2.6 or higher • Admission to Weber State. Completed application to baccalaureate nursing program (including two letters of reference attesting to ethical and professional character.) • Successful completion (50th percentile) of NLN Mobility Profile II examination for registered nursing graduates from diploma program. General Requirements: • Specific Requirements (see index). Requirements for General Education, including math competency requirement (see index). • A grade of C+ or better is required in all upper division nursing courses. • An overall GPA of 2.6 must be maintained. • 183 total credit hours are required; 60 of these hours must be upper division credits. Specific Requirements: • 6 hours upper division general electives. • Minimum of 51 upper division nursing hours. • Nursing courses required (51 hours): Nursing 301 (3), 309 (2), 310 (3), 311 (7), 323 (7), 350 (1), 351 (1), 399 (1), 424 (7), 425 (7), 450 (1), 451 (1), 486 (9), 499 (1). • Credit for Nursng 301, 311, 323, and 351 may be earned by Special Examination. • Written verification of experience is required for Nursng 311 and 323. Required Support Courses (must be completed with C grade or better): • ChemNSlll (5), NS 112 (5), NS113 (5); Hlthsci 329 (3). These courses are prerequisites to clinical nursing courses. • Credit for Hlthsci 329 may be earned by Special Examination. PROGRAM: BACCALAUREATE NURSING HONORS OPTION General Requirements: • Enroll in General Honors program and complete ten (10) hours of Honors courses (see Interdisciplinary Programs section of catalog). • Maintain overall 3.3 GPA. • Fulfill requirements for Bachelor's of Science with a Nursing major. Specific Requirements: • In fulfilling requirements for a Bachelor's of Science with Nursing major, take at least twenty (20) credit hours of upper division Nursing Honors (to include NURSNG 480). • Complete a Nursing Honors Senior Project (NURSNG 480) for at least two (2) hours credit (maximum of six (6). • A student may receive Nursing Honors credit in any upper division nursing class. Permission from the program coordinator should be sought before registering in a course for Honors credit. A written agreement should be reached with the appropriate professor regarding the work expected for Honors credit. (See the Interdisciplinary Programs section of the catalog.)
