Show • Composite Programs Composite Programs Information PROGRAM: BUSINESS EDUCATION COMPOSITE TEACHING MAJOR BACHELOR DEGREE General Requirements: Specific Requirements (see index). Requirements for General Education (see index). A minor is not required. Composite majors must have a 2.5 or better in major courses. An overall GPA of 2.75 is required of all Education majors. 183 total hours are required for this degree. Sixty of the 183 total hours must be upper division (courses numbered 300 and above). Advanced Standing Requirements (23 credits): These requirements must be completed for entry into all classes numbered 301 or above offered through the School of Business. Acctng 201 (3); CIS PD170 (4); Econ 202 (4), 203 (4), (or Econ SS101; and Econ 301, 302, or 303); EconQt 240 (4), 260 (4). (Math 107 or equivalent is a prerequisite for EconQt 240 and 260. (Math 105 or equivalent is a prerequisite for Econ 202 and 203.) Business Core Requirements (18 credits): Acctng 202 (3); Bused 325 (4); Busadm 320 (3); Mgmt 301 (4); Mktg 301 (4). Specific Major Requirements (32 credits): Bused 103 (3), 150 (4), 200 (2), 250 (4), 302 (4), 307 (1), 308 (1), *360 (2), *361 (3), *363 (2), 489 (3), 499 (3). Students obtaining a Business Education Composite Teaching major must satisfy the School of Education Certification Program (see Teacher Education Program). Department of Secondary Education requirements for certification must be completed in sequence: Educ 195 (1), 300 (2), 350 (5), 363 (3), 364 (4), 462 (4), 495 (15), 499 (3). Commun HU102 (3), (Bused 325 will meet the Commun HU102 requirement). Must be taken in the sophomore and junior year. Major Requirements: Students who have taken shorthand or keyboarding at another school will be placed in the appropriate level courses by means of an evaluation of their proficiency. Any skill courses that are bypassed may be replaced by elective courses in business. Students transferring credits from another institution must take at least one keyboarding and one shorthand course or equivalency verification at Weber State to verify their skills. Business Education/Administrative Systems credit earned more than ten years earlier than the proposed date of graduation will not be accepted toward major requirements unless validated through a challenge examination or department chair approval. To enroll in any skill course, a student must have a grade of C or better in the preceding course in the same skill. Any deviation from the printed graduation requirements must be approved by the department chair prior to taking the course(s) in question.
