The numeric figure in parenthesis, e.g. (3), indicates the number of quarter hours of credit given for the course. Location: Administration Building, Room 210 Telephone: 626-6746/6741 Tentative dates for registration each quarter are listed in the College calender at the front of this catalog. The most current schedule of registration appointments is also published in each quarter's class schedule, copies of which may be obtained from the Weber State College Bookstore in the Shepherd Union Building. Registration procedures and classes to be offered are described in the class schedule. Registration for Currently Enrolled Students During each quarter, students currently enrolled in school will be given an opportunity to register for the following quarter at times and places announced. Students must make payment of fees when registering. Classification of Students Students with 44 or less quarter hours credit at the beginning of the quarter are classified as Freshmen; those with 45-89 quarter hours, as Sophomores; those with 90 to 134, as Juniors; and those with 135 and over, as Seniors. Students with a baccalaureate degree are classified as Graduates. Freshmen Registration Freshmen students are encouraged not to register for upper division classes (those numbered 300 and above). However, they may register for such classes if they have completed all prerequisite classes with a grade of 'B' or better and have obtained the approval of the instructor or the department chairperson. Late Registration Will be allowed only during the first week of each quarter. Students registering late will pay a late fee. Normal Registration Normal registration for any one quarter is 15 quarter hours, exclusive of one hour of physical education activity (usually taken each quarter of the freshman year). Freshmen students are not ordinarily permitted to register for upper division classes. Sophomore students may register for upper division classes with the signature approval of either the class instructor or the department chairperson on the registration form. v Maximum Registration Maximum registration without special permission is 20 credit hours each quarter. Students may petition for additional credit hours but they must meet the criteria set forth in the school policy. Petition forms, 25 Registration, Residency available in the academic department offices or the Registration Office, explain the policy and procedure governing the petition for excess credit hours. A student should have both a cumulative and a previous quarter grade point average of 3.0 (B) or higher before petitioning. Senior Citizen Registration Utah residents age 62 and over are permitted to enroll, on a space available basis at any of the state public universities and colleges, on a tuition-free, audit basis. A ten dollar per year administrative fee will be charged to cover registration costs. Where applicable, senior citizens will be charged a fee for use of consummable materials. Audit Course Registration Students registering to audit a class are considered as regular students in determining part-time or full-time registration and are charged regular tuition and fees. Because of space and facility limitations some classes may not be open to auditor students. Students who plan to audit a class must complete an audit card, obtain the instructor's signature, and turn the card in with their registration form. The deadline for audit registration is the end of the sixth week (or 60%) of the quarter. Participation in class activities by an auditor student may be limited at the discretion of an instructor. Students auditing courses will be expected to attend class on a regular basis. Audit students failing to attend class may be issued a "W" at the discretion of the instructor. Credit/No-Credit Registration Any student may register for classes on a credit/no-credit basis. Freshmen students may register for only one credit/no-credit class each quarter. A student who has completed 44 hours of college credit and who is not on academic warning or probation may register for no more than two classes each quarter. The student should declare this kind of registration on the original registration but will be permitted to make a change within the first six weeks (or 60%) of the quarter. (Refer to Credit/No Credit Policy in the index.) Students who stop attending a class for which they are registered CR/NC without properly withdrawing, will be subject to a UW (Unofficial Withdrawal) grade which is counted as an "E" when grades are computed. Changes in Registration Students may add classes or withdraw from classes at specified times after their initial registration and through the first week of the quarter. During this period of time there will be no charge for the first change of registration (involving any number of drops or adds). Each subsequent change will require purchase of a Change of Registration form. After the first week of school, classes may be added only with the permission of the instructor. No class may be added after the third week. Each change made after the first week will require purchase of a Change of Registration form. Withdrawal from Individual Classes Students may withdraw from individual classes only during the first six weeks (or 60%) of the quarter. Individual classes may not be dropped the final four weeks (or 40%) of the quarter. No entry will appear on the transcripts of those students who withdraw from individual classes during the first three weeks (or 30%) of the quarter. A "W" (Withdrawal) will appear on the records of those students who withdraw from individual classes after the third week. Students who stop attending a class without officially withdrawing will receive a "UW" (Unofficial Withdrawal) for that class. The complete policy and procedure for making registration changes and the schedule of deadlines for making them are published in the schedule for each quarter. Withdrawal from School Students are permitted to completely withdraw from school up to and including the last day of instruction for any given quarter. Students withdrawing from school must obtain a Withdrawal from School form from the Registration Office and process it according to instructions. The notation "Withdrew from School" and the date will appear on the records of those students who completely withdraw from school after the first six weeks of the quarter. Refunds of tuition and fees will be based on the refund policy of the College. At the time tuition and fees are paid to the Cashier, students will receive official receipts. These receipts must be presented before refunds will be made. In some instances additional authorization is required.
