Show 44 Composite Teaching Majors 431. Government Contract Law (4) Principles of the law of contracts, sales, and agency, with application to the purchasing of goods and services and the related problems of contract enforcement at all levels of government. 433. Contract Administration and Performance Evaluation (4) Information relative to administering government contracts is provided including contract management and contract administration. 441. Inventory and Systems Manager Concepts (4) An introduction to the theory of systems and how it is applied in the private industry and military environments. 443. Requirements Computations and Provisioning (4) Provisioning of material required to support a new end item of equipment as it is delivered from production, with follow-up requirements methods, (recoverable, non-recoverable replacement) used for continued item support. 445. Life Cycle and Support Analysis (4) Engineering management as it applies to the development, direction, and control of the design, performance, and reliability of a system. Concentration on life cycle cost modeling and logistics support analysis. Prerequisite: Log 111 or Math 105. 446. Configuration Management (4) A study of the process by which the complete physical and functional characteristics of a manufactured item is identified, and the establishment of a configuration baseline and how all changes and modifications to item characteristics can be controlled and documented. 447. Materials Management Seminar (4) An overview of material management concepts which integrates information derived from prior courses. Prerequisites: Completion of five courses in the Management/Logistics Program. 450. Computer Application to Logistics Models (4) This course concentrates on the use of computer software to aid in the solution and interpretation of logistics models. Emphasis is placed on problem identification, problem setup, computer solution, and interpretation of solution results. A significant portion of the course deals with sensitivity analysis as applied to logistics models. 455. International Logistics (4) A study of International Logistics Program Management through a comprehensive treatment of the National Security Assistance program and processes as they relate to logistics support planning, organization, implementation and control. 461. Quality Control Concepts and Techniques (4) An overview of the total quality control function including organization, management, process control, and product reliability. Prerequisite: Log 111 or Math 105. 473. Supply Management (4) A detailed analysis of the interrelationships of military and industrial supply with other major logistics functions of maintenance, procurement, transportation, and marketing. 474. Introduction to Transportation (4) An overview of transportation emphasizing its role, environmental and sociological aspects, economic characteristics, carrier services, regulation, policy goals. 475. Distribution Traffic Management (4) The functions of a traffic department with application of transportation management principles, emphasizing the role of transportation management in reducing the cost of production through economical application of rates, rules, and regulations. 476. Packaging Administration and Technology (5) A survey of package development, testing, graphics, materials and machinery, and the management relationships between packaging, production, storage, security, and transportation from the industrial-military viewpoint. 480. Logistics Individualized Project (13) Individual work by student in the field of logistics on topics not included in the announced course offerings. 492. Short Courses, Workshops, Institutes and Special Programs (1-6) In order to provide flexibility and to meet many different needs, a number of specific offerings are possible using this catalog number. When the number is used it will be accompanied by a brief and specific descriptive title. The specific title with the credit authorized for the particular offering will appear on the student transcript. Composite Teaching Majors In lieu of the major and minor, a candidate may elect a composite teaching major which consists of a minimum of sixty-nine credit hours of subjects in closely related fields. In many cases the requirements of the composite major may include courses with are also used to satisfy General Education requirements. Bachelor Degree General Education requirements (see index). Psych 101 (5) in the Social Science area is recommended for Bilingual/Bicultural Composite Teaching majors. A minor is not required Bilingual/Bicultural Composite Teaching majors must have a C or better in major courses. Bilingual/Bicultural Composite Teaching majors must achieve an overall 2.50 GPA and a demonstrated competence in English and a second language to be used in teaching. 183 total hours are required for this degree. Sixty of the 183 total hours must be upper division (courses numbered 300 and above). Students obtaining a Bilingual/Bicultural Composite Teaching major must satisfy the School of Education Certification Program (see Teacher Education Program). These courses must include the following: Educ 195 (1), 300 (3), 350 (3), 363 (3), 462 (3), 364 (4), 495 (15), 499(5). Specific Requirements: Minimum of 70 credit hours. The Bilingual/Bicultural Composite Teaching major consists of two teaching minors, one of which must be a subject which Utah Secondary schools are required to teach. (Minimum of 25 hours each) Bilingual/Bicultural requirements (Minimum of 20 hours): Courses required: Educ 410 (3), 411 (3), 412 (3), 413 (3). Electives (8 hours minimum): Educ 414 (3); Anthro 204 (3), 211 (3), 310 (5), or 350 (2-5); Humanities 353 (3); Hist 214 (3), 326 (3) or 426 (3); Psych 193 (2); Soclgy 321 (3) or 410 (3). Students planning to pursue the Bilingual/Bicultural Composite major should contact the adviser for Bilingual/Bicultural education in the School of Education for advisement. Any skill courses that are bypassed may be replaced by elective courses in business. Students transferring credits from another institution must take at least one Typewriting and one Shorthand course or equivalency verification at Weber State College to verify their skills. Any Business Education course over ten years old must be challenged or approved by the Department Chairman before acceptance toward a requirement. I To enroll in any skill course, a student must have a grade of C or I better in the preceding course in the same skill.
