ORATION and BENEDICTION By Ty Ger Friends, onlookers and substitutes, lend me your sympathy. I come to bury Box Elder, not to pity her. The evil that football teams do gives them fifteen yard penalties, the good is often interred by a state arbiter. Take warning noble Box Elder! Thrice on three succes­sive nights in the full moon hath the ravenous Tiger sharpened his teeth on bones gathered in the fair valley of Brigham one year ago. They say: Box Elder is ambitious, that her noble ambition has carried her to this field of battle. Thus, fellow mourners, does ambition pro­vide her destruction. (Drop your salty tears on the Bees, friends, the Tiger always appre­ciates seasoning with his meal.) Here, under leave of the sheriff and the rest, come I to an­nounce Box Elder's funeral. She had a team; but alas, it was ambitious. What cause withholds you, then, to mourn for her? O Bees! Thou art fed to a ferocious beast and have already lost the game. And so I feign would say, "Eat 'em up Tigers!" SOCIETY NOTES It is announced that Professor D. Kapple's class in the science of bee culture will hold a picnic and wild honey hunt in the woods on the north side of the Ogden river on next Sat­urday afternoon. The young gentlemen have perfected themselves in the science of bee cul­ture under the able direction of Professor Kapple and expect to subdue any bees swarming in that locality. The class invites all their friends to an afternoon of gentle enjoyment. Immediately after this event, bread and honey will be served to the guests. Mr. F. Gentsch has arranged with the Slade Transfer Company to gently escort the re­mains of a certain Mr. Jenson back to Brigham Saturday night. We are pleased to announce that there will be a bathing party in the Ogden River next Saturday night for all those who do not care to attend the game.
