Show UTAH AGRICULTURAL COLLEGE ELMER GEORGE PETERSON, PRESIDENT LOGAN. UTAH August 29, 1934. OFFICE OF THE PRESIDENT Dear friend, Each year the number cf graduates from Utah high schools increases. Each year the proportion of these young men and women who enter college for advanced specialized training increases. This means that keen competition already so apparent in certain lines of business is becoming a greater factor in all phases of life. It means that the man or woman who does not develop all of his or her capabilities will be even more handicapped in the future than in the past. The fact that you have been graduated from high school indicates that you have special capabilities. If you had inherited a farm or a business you would not hesitate in making the greatest possible use of it. As a matter of fact, if you have unusul mental ability you have inherited something that can be made infinitely more valuable than an ordinary fortune. It can be made to bring you not only a good income but many satisfactions which money could never buy. You have indicated a preference for training in business. There is no better field for service and reward. Nearly all corporations at well as many smaller business concerns aemand college trained men and women for all of their important positions. Business of the future will not be the hit and ( miss proposition that it has tuo often been in the past. Success in business in the presence of keen competition is dependent upon a thorough knowledge of the principles upon which successful business rests. If you will open the catalog of the Utah Agricultural College to pages 85--88 you will see that this Institution offers such training in many lines of business. Besides this broad business education the many other departments in which work may be taken make It possible for you to get a liberal education that will fit you for life and citizenship. The College beg ins its Fall quarter on Monday, September 29.
