Show PRETTY MAY WEDDING HELD ON SATURDAY One of the prettiest May weddings was that of Miss Alice Elizabeth Dix, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Dix of Ogden, and Ralph S. Gunn, son of Mr. and Mrs. P. R. Gunn of Monmouth,, 111., which took place at the First Presbyterian church on Saturday, May 21, at four o'clock. Festoons of pink hawthorne, red peonies and bridal wreath garlanded the front of the church and altar. Preceding the entrance of the wedding procession, Mrs. Jones sang "Oh, Promise Me." As the procession entered Mrs. Vera Frey Beason played the Lohengrin Wedding March. The Rev. John Carver read the marriage ceremony, and the bride was given away by her brother, Oscar V. Coburn. After the benediction, the wedding party departed to the strains of the Mendelssohn Wedding March. The bride and groom were then greeted by their many friends and relatives. Ronald Rosevear acted as best man, and Warren Smith, Edwin Hall and Ward Armstrong acted as the ushers. The petite bride wore a gown of white chiffon, made wits? a tight bodice and a long ruffled skirt. The wedding veil was of embroidered white tulle, caught at the head with a band of lilies of the valley, and she carried a bouquet of bride's roses, lilies of the valley and sweet peas. The maid of honor, Miss Phyllis Rosevear, wore a dress of pink flowered chiffon, with a hat to match. She carried pink roses and lilies of the. valley. The flower girl, little Marlyn Payne, wore pink crepe de chine and carried a green basket filled with sweet peas and lilies of the valley. The ring bearer, Master Mylan Coburn, wore a white suit and carried a white lily, in which the wedding ring was placed. Mr. and Mrs. Gunn left immediately for a trip through southern Utah, Zion's national park and then the east. While in the east they will visit Mr. Gunn's parents. Preceding the ceremony a luncheon was served at the home of Mrs. Alvin Payne, sister of the bride, 2660 Liberty avenue. The luncheon was done in pale pink and pale green, and the flowers that decorated the table were pink sweet peas and lilies of the valley. In addition to the wedding party, these were present: Mrs. Kenneth W. Moody of Boston, Mass.; Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Rosevear, Miss Phyllis Rosevear, Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Coburn and Mr. and Mrs. Payne. On their return from the wedding trip Mr. and Mrs. Gunn will make their home in Mount Pleasant, where they are both on the faculty of the Wasatch academy. |
